In 1965, Nuria and Juan, passionate about art and decoration, founded the Art Orbi company in Barcelona; a framing workshop specialised in ancient engravings. For more than 25 years, they participated in the International Furniture Fair in Valencia, where they built commercial relationships with designers from Spain, England, France and even Japan.
In 1994, Juan passed away and Nuria decided to open an engraving and framing shop, named Atlántida, in the district of Sarriá in Barcelona.
In spite of the strong economic crisis hitting the country since 1993, the shop is very successful among the neighbours and many of them start appreciating and collecting engravings.
In 2003, Nuria retires and moves out to Lanzarote where her son, Vasco, is living. She takes with her the sheets and engravings’ file.
In 2020, Vasco, with a lot of enthusiasm and taking advantage of the e-commerce growth, decides to create the online shop « Grabados Antiguos Lanzarote » (Ancient Engravings Lanzarote), in order to classify and publish the collection as a digital exhibition, recovering the past generations’ legacy willing to pass on their knowledge and culture through the art of engraving.
